RACE REPORT
Thursday 2nd September 2010 EBF Maiden Stakes (Epsom) 2yo - 1 Mile 114yds A testing track, with the famous Tattenham Hill and cambered run in, this was always likely to be a stern test but Hurricane Spear broke well and stayed in contention until the final 4 furlongs. Uncomfortable going down the hill, he ran fairly green although was reported by jockey George Baker as "a really good ride - he will be great as a 3 year old. His attitude is fantastic" We owe it to the horse to allow him to grow into his tall frame and remain confident of a great 3 year old season. Trainer Gary Moore remains very confident of his abilities.
Saturday 31st July 2010 (Glorious Goodwood)EBF Bluesquare Maiden Stakes (7F) 2 YO Colts & Geldings Described by the racing post as one of the hottest maiden races of the year, the field included 7 race-course débutantes including our own Hurricane Spear (aka Harry). With the ground on the straight course having been watered over-night and an additional 3-4mm of rain on top, the ground was cutting up on the final day of an exceptional week of Glorious Goodwood. Richard Hannon rated his entry and eventual winner, Pausanias, as his best 2 year old! Slow to kick out of the stalls, Harry settled towards the rear, with jockey Fergus Sweeney instructed to settle in and then ride a finish. He remained in touch until the final furlong or so and failed to keep with the leaders as they broke for home. Finishing a creditable 8th we are pleased with the performance based on his utter coolness and professionalism in the build up to the race, and because we can now build upon what we have seen. He was certainly not outclassed. Ground conditions, although officially good, were heavier than ideal given the previous races and overnight rain. "A true pro - totally honest and great to sit on. On the way to the start he felt he wanted a longer distance so he is sure to make a really talented 3 year old horse. A good galloping track & he'll win easily for you." - Fergus Sweeney, Jockey We believe Harry to be an outstanding prospect as a three year old as do the teams at Racing UK and Betfair and of course his pedigree reflects - and therefore he has to be entered into races of this calibre to ensure we achieve this potential. Returning from this outing with no ill effects, and not breathing heavily, we confirmed he is better suited to 1 1/4 mile upwards in distance, which are not available to 2 year olds, but which we always planned to be his distances. Trainer Gary Moore reports him fit and eating well on his return to the stables, and we will be planning our on-going campaign based partly on the evidence of this race.
JULY 2010 A hot start to the month, has seen Field & Country Racing listed on the BHA directory site. This is important as it gives our owners and clients even more assurance of our quality and service. Inclusion in the directory is only allowed after fulfilling the British Horse-racing Authority requirements as a racing company, and is a real feather in our cap - and of course testament to the hard work of all our team.
Our two-year-old Hurricane Spear (pictured here with owners The Smith Family) is in final preparation for his first run. Thus far, the current crop of Hurricane Run débutantes have been disappointing on their runs, but we are confident that the patience we have shown in waiting for the right time and race, and allowing Harry to develop into a better athlete, will result in a good performance. Watch out for updates!
JUNE 2010 Field & Country Racing has teamed up with Bath Racecourse to promote our fantastic horses during their race meetings. The deal allows us access to the course on race days, advertising in the racecard and promotional opportunities throughout the year. Any of our owners wishing to visit Bath for the races should contact us to organise free and / or reduced priced entry tickets. Meanwhile our horses are doing very well and Hurricane Spear is working well atGary Moore's yard. Gary's son, champion jockey Ryan, has sat on the 2 year old and thinks he is "quite some horse". Gary reports that he is extremely impressed by the horse's work rate and maturity - comparing him to some of his better 3 and 4 year old.

21st March: NEWS-
It is with great sadness that we report the death of Mysterious Angel- Angel was a 17 hand mare aged just 7 when she broke her front leg in the field today. It was a freak accident which caused her very little discomfort, and our on-site vet was able to put her to sleep very rapidly. Angel was about to start competing in major eventing competition and was Sarah Matheson's great favourite.
Sarah & Angel are pictured here in a recent cross country event. Angel will be sadly missed for her gentle nature and the enjoyment she gave to us all in her short life. Rest easy lass!
FEBRUARY 2010
February has started with the purchase of a Motivator filly (see picture) and a With Approval Colt. Both youngsters are spectacularly good looking and will now spend the next months growing on our fertile pastures. If you want to visit them, or any of our horses please CONTACT US
In other news, Hurricane Spear continues to train well - he is currently on the gallops twice a week and is ridden out everyday. He is likely to be a late-season starter due to the lack of suitable distances for 2 year olds in the earlier part of the season. We have been asked by Amanda Perrett to allow him to gallop "upsides" her 2 year olds and there has been interest in him from a number of world renowned trainers - we will announce his full training placement once the syndicate members have discussed the options.

We are offering great LOW-COST, ALL-INCLUSIVE shares in two super horses for 2010.
- Hurricane Spear is in our pre-training academy and looks set to enter full training in the early spring.
- Dancealot Lady has been rested over winter but will re-enter training for her 3 Year old season in February. She has maintained her fitness well. We expect to see races for her in May at the latest and her maturity will allow better distances than she had as a 2 Year Old.
